Tarpon are some of the most commonly broken off fish in all of Florida. Having to choose between low visibility and high durability line has proven to be a hard decision for many anglers. I am here to discuss the best line options for landing your trophy Tarpon.

100lb - 160lb Tarpon

This fully adult size fish is where the Tarpon fishing addiction has started for many of us. 50 lb Braided line is the superior choice in the mature tarpon fishing community. It allows a rigid line that will not stretch out under the power of a tarpon while remaining thin enough to spool ample amount of line onto your reel. Color matters, dark green or Light blue braid are the most natural colors for any inshore fish. In dark water use green and in clear use light blue. If you will be fishing both water types and need a good all around line color always choose dark green.
